Summer’s Almost Here!
It’s never too late to start planning your summer and if you can’t find anything to do, summer programs are a great way to spend your time and even polish up your extra curricular activity section for college. From science, technology, engineering, and mathematics(STEM) programs to art and even sports, there are lots of different opportunities for you to apply to this summer, and here are just a few to keep in mind.
A free, six-day experience focused on business and leadership that offer rising junior and senior high school students the chance to learn and interact with McCombs students, faculty, and corporate representatives, according to McCombs School of Business. McCombs is located at University of Texas in Austin and applications are currently open.
2. Cornell Summer Residential Program
The Cornell Summer Residential Program allows students to get a feel of the real ivy league experience. Along with a transferable college credit, students will get to explore different majors, and prep for college admissions. Applications will open late January for this program.
3. University of Notre Dame Leadership Seminar
Notre Dame Leadership Seminar allows approximately 100 accepted students to show off their leadership, problem solving, and critical thinking skills while working to solve world issues. Students will receive the opportunity to live on campus and attain one transferable college credit. Applications are open now and close on January 23rd.
4. NYU High School Summer Art Intensive
New York UniversitySummer Art Program accepts students from all over the world to come stay at their campus to explore art and experience at their college all while being taught by amazing teachers and meeting students from across the globe who share interests. Only the most adventurous and talented students get accepted into this program every year and applications are accepted though April 5th.
Nike Basketball Camp is a camp dedicated to teaching kids how to become better players and refine their skills set at all positions on the court. Taught by pro level trainers, this camp is certainly one of the best basketball camps located in Texas.
All in all, summer is a well deserved break for students so whether you plan to apply for programs is up to you. But if you’re planning on making your summer activity filled then summer programs are great activities that are fun and benefit your college application at the same time.
