On Wednesday, October 11, the Frisco community endured cold October winds as they celebrated Wakeland’s 2023 Homecoming. Organized by the yearbook and cheer departments, the community pep rally went off without a hitch! The pep rally featured performances from band, cheer, color guard, and Legacy Line.
“We were there to create a community around Wakeland,” sophomore cheerleader Sarah Cashman said.
In order to spread awareness and raise money, Wakeland clubs and organizations set up tables outside. With her peers, Rohini Viswanatham, an ambassador for ECO Club, organized a booth for ECO Club, Baking Club, and Model UN. Her table featured baked goods in exchange for club donations.
“I think we ended up making more than $150,” Viswanatham said.
As the head cheer coach and yearbook teacher, Mrs. Steinhauser is the primary organizer of the community pep rally. Even though this time of the year can be overwhelming for those in charge, she took time to celebrate her accomplishments.
“We started the community pep rally to bring in some of our future Wolverines,” Steinhauser said.
With the community pep rally being filled with elementary and middle school students, Steinhauser has accomplished her goal and continued the trend of fantastic Wakeland events. The next pep rally is white out themed and will be October 27!
