On Lebanon and Dallas Parkway, construction crews are hard at work. They are working on building a new Whole Foods!
The Whole Foods will be a part of the Mix, a 3-billion dollar mixed use space. Tim Campbell, the head of development, said it will be a “unique destination for new jobs, new experiences and new homes for the people of Frisco,” in a quote to Community Impact. They plan to include European architecture, walking paths, and greenery to create a pleasant, unique space. The Mix began construction in January 2025 and will eventually span 112 acres. It will be home to a park, restaurants, hotels, as well as retail stores, offices, and residential space.
The Whole Foods announcement was met with support from Frisco residents. “I would like to visit Whole Foods, especially to buy organic game day apples,” said sophomore Eden Esquenazi. Their products focus on local options and have strict ingredient standards, excluding over 500 ingredients such as artificial dyes, preservatives, and GMOs. They also support animal welfare, through sustainably sourced protein.
For years, the area has been nicknamed “The Hole” after a previous project went bankrupt, leaving just a useless hole. Eva Nieves, a sophomore at Wakeland, says, “I drove by the construction site on the way to church, but I never realized what they were building.” Now, the land is given new life with The Mix project. A specific completion date for has not been set, however “Phase One”, which includes Whole Foods, is expected to wrap up at the end of 2026. Despite the wait, many look with anticipation towards the development. “I’m really excited,” sophomore Ellie Scott says “I love getting healthy food because it has a lot of good nutrients that make me feel good.”
Whole Foods is expected to open at the end of 2026, and Wakeland students could not be more excited!
