This three hour and twelve minute long movie has grossed over two billion in the box office and is holding spot number 6 as one of the most grossing films. Avatar: The Way of Water takes place over 10 years after the original was filmed and tells the story of Jake Sully and his family. Jake Sully is seen to have a wife, Naytiri, and four children. This movie is about the trouble that has seemed to come back to Pandora with the “sky people” trying to invade them because Earth is dying.
This heartfelt movie comes to show the lengths that this family is willing to go through to protect each other and their people as they work together, learn, and experience heartbreaking tragedy.
With a 77% on The Tomatometer and a 92% on the audience score, this sequel has surely captured viewers’ hearts, but this won’t be the last time. Avatar 3,4,5 are already in production with the filming of Avatar 3 already finished. The upcoming release dates for these movies are as follows: Avatar 3 is set to release December 20, 2024 followed by Avatar 4 December 18, 2026 and Avatar 5 on December 22, 2028.
This movie will likely be in theaters until February, so viewers can still see it on the big screen while it’s there because a way to stream at home has not been released yet. But until then, viewers will have to watch this sequel in the closest movie theater, or watch the original on Disney+ and multiple other streaming platforms.
