Wakeland Theatre’s fall show, Peter and the Starcatcher, is a fun and exciting story that tells how Peter Pan became the boy who never grows up. The show includes pirates, adventure, and a lot of laughs, with Wakeland students bringing the story to life on stage.
The cast and crew of Peter and the Starcatcher have been working hard for weeks to prepare for the show. From memorizing lines and perfecting choreography to constructing sets and creating costumes, cast and crew members have invested a great deal of time and effort to bring the play to life.
This production marks the debut of Wakeland’s new theater director, Mr. KG who stepped into his role at the beginning of the new school year. Cast and crew members say his vision has added excitement to the program’s fall production.
“I really like working with Mr. KG,” said freshman Yolanda Li, “he always brings a productive and positive environment into the theater.” Yolanda said.
His experience reflects the sense of optimism shared by many students as they adapt to his directing style and learn his approach to building a show.
“This cast is incredibly hard working, and you take into account that I’m a new director here and that these students have never worked with me and I’ve never worked with them. So I’m trying to figure out how everything works.” Mr. Kocurek-Gentry says. This highlights not only the dedication of the students but also the challenges of building a new collaborative dynamic between the cast and a new director.
“The rehearsal process is very fun, we have a lot of character and interaction work, which is always exciting to do.” sophomore Anya Sharma says. “And everyone is working very hard to put it all together.” Despite the tight schedule, the cast remains motivated and committed to delivering a good performance.
Both crew and cast members have been working hard and having lots of fun getting ready for the show. They can’t wait to share it with the audience. Like Mr. Kocurek-Gentry said, “People should come out to see the show because it’s fun and Wakeland Theatre rocks!” Peter and the Starcatcher runs from September 19th, to September 20th.
