October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Wakeland shows support for breast cancer research by having a Pink Out game and pep rally every year.
However, to add to the awareness of this cause, Wakeland Cheer came up with “Think Pink” dress up days for each school day leading up to the Pink Out game against Liberty on Friday, October 6, at 7 p.m. at Toyota Stadium.
Students and teachers are encouraged to dress up each day and wear the Pink Out shirts on Thursday for the pep rally at noon.
This year’s special guest and recipient of the donation from the sale of Wakeland Cheer’s pink out shirts is Breast Cancer Can Stick It! (https://www.breastcancercanstickit.org/) which, according to their website, “[raises] funds for treatment, research, trials, and mammograms through music-centric events that ROCK, to ultimately STICK IT to breast cancer.”
The sophomores and seniors will attend the pep rally in person and it will be broadcast on WIN-TV for the rest of the school.
