On January 15th, students have the day off of school in honor of Martin Luther King Jr., a leader of the Civil Rights Movement. King helped bring equal rights to African Americans and significant progress to our nation as a whole.
While it is important to remember the history behind this holiday, students can also look forward to sleeping in on Monday and enjoying the day off of school. Unfortunately, everyone may be forced to stay inside due to freezing temperatures.
On Monday in Frisco, there is an expected low of 7 degrees and a high of 25 degrees. Currently, there is also a 50 percent chance of snow in the morning and a 7 percent chance at night. Instead of a fun day out with your friends, Frisco meteorologists suggest that you stay inside.
The residents of Frisco are not strangers to cold weather around this time of year. In 2021, we experienced a snowstorm that has been dubbed “snowmageddon”. Frisco neighborhoods and establishments lost power for days and dealt with below-freezing temperatures. In late 2022 and early 2023, we had snowstorms that resulted in a couple of days off of school. Many students are hoping that this winter storm will bring similar fun and extra days off from school.
Remember to bundle up, stay inside, and keep warm!
