Dual credit is a college course that can be used to earn both college and high school credit in one class.
You must apply to: www.goapplytexas.org first in order to be eligible. You will need to use your personal email to apply, not your school email. The process is long so please take your time. You will be completely done once you see confetti.
Once accepted to Collin College, students receive a Collin College Wide Identification (CWID) number. Collin counselors suggest taking a screenshot of the CWID number because students will need it a lot.
After students apply to Collin, they need to fill out the permission form. The permission form for the fall must be completed by March 19, 2024. Students can no longer apply after that date, and the permission form for the summer must be completed by March 21st. Students can no longer apply after May 1, 2024.
Collin Counselors will start registering students on March 26, 2024, and the final payment deadline for summer and fall permission forms is on May 1, 2024, at 11:59 pm.
Students may exempt from the TSI (Texas Success Initiative) exam if their ACT and SAT scores are met. The SAT reading and writing must be a score of 480 or higher, and the math score must be a 530 or higher. If you need to take the TSI, in-person testing and online testing are available. Online testing is virtual and the current cost is $40. Visit TSI (Texas Success Initiative) if you need additional details. If you want to make changes to your dual credit classes, your high school counselor must have a written approval for you to make those changes.
For more information, visit Dual Credit Info Session and 24-25 WHS Collin Enrollment Checklist. If you have any questions, you can speak with the one of the Collin counselors, Ms. Millbrook, at Wakeland, or email her at [email protected].
