The halls of Wakeland High School are glittering with silver and gold this year, as students sport unique jewelry to accent the new fashion we are seeing this year. One popular jewelry brand is James Avery, which has been going strong since 1954. The brand is currently celebrating its amazing run with pop-up trunk shows all over Texas. 

James Avery is now a successful jewelry company, but it was a rocky road to get there. The company started out in 1954 in Kerrville, Texas, through James’ garage. The first piece of jewelry that he made to sell was the cross. People were drawn to the meaning of it and wanted to buy it. Ever since then, the company has become super successful with multiple locations in the south.

“I think there are a lot of different types [of jewelry] that you can have and it can be meaningful,” junior Allison Pich said.

The company gained popularity in the 1970s, to the point that James hired 35 other people to help with his growing business. Currently, James Avery sells many different types of jewelry, including charms, necklaces, earrings, and rings. The brand even offers jewelry for men.

“I feel like jewelry makes your outfit look better,” sophomore Emmi Tarver said.

James Avery’s company is popular for a reason, and it has definitely made its mark with so many years in business. If you are looking for a great way to complete any outfit, you should look at what James Avery has to offer.
