On Saturday, March 22, 2025 Wakeland Theater competed in the UIL One Act Play at Creekview High School, finishing in second place and advancing to the bi-district competition! The company won quite a few awards, including overall Best Tech Crew and many individual awards. Senior Brandon Ross won Outstanding Technician, senior Kate Hostin and senior David Trejo won Honorable Mention All-Star Cast, senior Ava Green won All-Star Cast, and junior Baylie Carlton won Outstanding Lead Performer.
“I’ve really enjoyed UIL this year. I put a lot of work into this show, and I am really proud of it,” junior JJ Potter said. “Everyone in the cast did an amazing job, and I hope we keep advancing!”
The bi-district competition is Friday March 28, 2025 at Emerson High School. Wakeland’s cast will be performing The Marriage Of Bette and Boo at 3:00 pm. If you would like to watch the competition, admission is free and you can support Wakeland from the audience.
“I loved getting to know everybody during the process! This show means so much to me and I’m glad to have worked on it with them,” junior Melody Mehrafarin said. “They’re all so kind and supportive, and we all work so well together!”
