The schedule for the 2025 AP exams has recently been released by College Board. AP exam testing will occur between May 5-16. The exact dates for each subject are available on College Board’s website, but students should also check their email for updates. Students who have exams that overlap can reach out to Ms. Scalf at [email protected], if they have not already received information. Now that these dates have been finalized, Wakeland students are starting to get more serious about their exam preparations.
“I need to check on the early content [before the exam] because I don’t remember it,” sophomore Sita Carrasco said.
Carrasco is taking the AP World History: Modern Exam, along with many other sophomores. It can be difficult for students to remember content from last semester, so extensive review is often necessary. Various sophomores express the sentiment that AP exams are more difficult now than in their freshman year.
“I feel like this year will be harder just because of the harder content, [and] I’m also taking two more APs than I did last year, so it’s more work,” sophomore Emily Jensen said.
Students taking AP Art 2-D, however, have to work on a different schedule to complete their AP exam. The exam for this course consists of a portfolio that is submitted to judges by May 9, 2025. Juniors Isis Nem and Eden Bartik are rushing to complete their work before the deadline.
“The workload [in AP 2-D] is fine, but I didn’t manage it well so now I’m cramming and stressing,” Nem said.
Wakeland students that are in multiple AP classes, such as junior Richa Das, sometimes choose which AP exams to take based on priority. It is important to know what credits are offered by colleges you are interested in for each AP exam and to know which AP exams might give the same credit. Some people also prioritize AP exams based on whether they are related to a student’s field of study.
“I’m not taking [the exam] for AP Precalculus. The credit doesn’t matter to me because I’m taking AP Calc AB next year,” Das said.
As these AP exam dates and deadlines approach, it is important to be aware of the dates of your exams and carve out time in your schedule to review content from your AP classes.
