Every new school year brings new faces to the Wakeland halls, and one of those faces is Mrs. Aguilar, our new broadcast teacher. This year Wakeland has the privilege of welcoming Aguilar who will be working with the WIN-TV team to keep the broadcast department running smoothly.
Aguilar is from Plano, so she is not completely new to the area. However, she enjoys the convenience of Frisco and the liveliness of the community here.
“I love how easy it is to get everywhere, and there is always something new going on,” Aguilar said.
While attending the University of North Texas, Aguilar studied journalism.
“I took only one film class, and I’m primarily a writer, so I am not used to this side of journalism,” Aguilar said.
Although she did not major in broadcast specifically, Aguilar’s background in journalism gave her unique experience to bring to the broadcast department.
“When I did work in journalism, I was the one that hired actors, so it’s a little weird for me to work on the other side of the camera,” Aguilar said.
Besides being involved in journalism, Aguilar has always been interested in teaching, so when she had the opportunity to teach, she quickly jumped at the chance.
“I know Wakeland is full of winners, and I wanted a challenge, I am here to keep Wakeland winning,” Aguilar said.
She is looking forward to watching her students grow both their broadcast and journalism skills this year.
“I am learning with them as this is my first time teaching broadcast,” Aguilar said.
Wakeland Broadcast can likely expect a great year under the direction of Aguilar. Be sure to keep an eye out for all the accomplishments they are sure to achieve this year.
