Wakeland is full of excellent teachers, each specializing in subjects to help students achieve success. One of these teachers, AP Statistics teacher and assistant soccer coach, Coach Esfandiary, was voted 2023-2024 Wakeland teacher of the year by fellow teachers.
“Having dedicated a considerable time to this institution, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with exceptional educators. To be chosen to represent this community is an unparalleled honor, signifying the highest recognition I can conceive,” said Coach Esfandiary.
Since beginning his teaching career with Wakeland’s opening in 2006, he has built strong relationships with students and teachers through creating a positive learning environment.
“He is very engaging with his students, makes the classroom fun, and ties his lessons into real life, which I enjoy,” senior Samantha Stein said.
While impacting students beyond the classroom, he ensures to further elaborate on challenging topics and make himself regularly available for tutorials, helping students to the best of his ability.
“Coach Esfandiary does a great job of being there for his students even though he’s a coach and has practices after school,” senior Allison Schnelle said. “He’s always there in the morning and during power lunch to help students with any questions they have.”
We thank Coach Esfandiary for all of his hard work and dedication to ensure students at Wakeland can be successful in all areas of life going forward.
