Setting Up for the Win
Wakeland volleyball heads to the second round of the playoffs tonight after a big first round win.
In the first round playoff game, they defeated Memorial, winning in three sets. They came back with a fire after being down the first part of the first set. After that, they dominated and sailed to victory.
“I feel really good about playoffs. I think we’re gonna do great and go really far,” senior Hannah Pfiffner said.
Tonight they play Bryan Adams for the area championship at 6:30 p.m. at Newman Smith High School.
“As a team we’re really close, and the seniors especially have been through a lot together. I think that’s really important because we’re super close, and we’ve been playing really well together. I think we’ll get really far, and I’m excited to see how we do,” Pfiffner said.
A win tonight would lead them to the regional quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
“We have had a really great season. We started off at some really competitive tournaments that prepped us for districts, and then we managed to beat all of our district opponents. We went undefeated for district, only dropping three sets through all of district, which is pretty amazing,” Coach Womble said.
With the motto of “#now”, the players are working to make each game count.
“We’re trying to put everything into perspective. Instead of just talking about it, we want to be about it, so that’s what we’re excited about,” senior Kaleigh Williams said.
“We’re just excited about tonight,” Womble said, “and we’ll hopefully get through it and play again on Tuesday.”
