The Wakeland varsity volleyball team has started off this season strong, both on and off the court. The girls have been working hard to build an unbreakable bond and an incredible team. They have been putting in hours of hard work with hopes of becoming state champions.
“It’s definitely a really special group. Every Wednesday we have a motivational talk which allows us to come together. Also, this year we all have the same goal of getting as far as we can to get to state,” junior Sarah Piffiner said.
The varsity girls are currently undefeated after earning four wins in district games. These wins have catapulted them into first place in the district. The girls have been dominating with clean sweeps against Reedy, Newman Smith, and Turner. Not only has the team earned multiple wins, but they have also acquired some incredible stats so far. Senior Jessica Jones, the team’s middle hitter and blocker, already has 184 spikes. Libero sophomore Aubree Fernandez has obtained 451 digs.
Although the girls have been sweeping the competition, the season is far from over. Student support at upcoming games is crucial, so come support your Lady Wolverines as they make an outstanding effort to keep the winning streak alive.
