Brotherhood is a core value in the Wakeland football program this value runs deep for the whole team but for the Myer family Brotherhood is already built in. The Myers three sons have all played for Wakeland football and after their brother Cade graduated in 2022 senior Brennan and sophomore Grayson are the last Myers to take the field together.
“Our whole family we’ve been waiting for Cade and Brennan to play with each other and then from from now me and Brennan to play with each other.” Despite their age differences, each brother has gotten to play with another on the varsity level.
“I don’t know that I thought that it would actually come to fruition that both Cade and Brennan would be able to play together and then Brennan and Grayson. It’s been such a neat treasure to be able to cheer them on and um see them be teammates not only just at home just be have a brother bond but be able to share this special Varsity experience.”
Playing together has given the brothers the opportunity to both learn from one another and strengthen their bond. “Just being able to spend the uh more time than we had been ever spend uh together then years in the past I think it’s pretty huge just building a bigger relationship than we had before the season started.”
After many years creating a bond through football, playing together on the varsity level is the culmination of their upbringing.
“Certainly as parents watching your your your sons play together and, you know, people in the stands see individual players but what we see is the two boys that were playing out in the front yard and you know taking that chemistry and, just knowing each other knowing how to help each other.”
“It’s hard to describe just the special feeling of just how proud I am of them and just how need it is to see that their bond goes even deeper than brothers, but teammates.” Though it’s their first and last season sharing the field the brothers will share these memories and leave their legacies on Wakeland football forever.
