Today we’re talking about how Wakeland students can improve on their Fitness habits for the new year.
Gracie Bueno asked fellow WINTV reporter and varsity football player Austin Wilson how much he squats and how he got to that personal record.
How did you get there?
Consistency and dedication to the gym! Going to the gym five to six days a week for three years gets you to that 530 pound squat.
What if someone doesn’t have the motivation to go to the gym?
Motivation is a short term thing, it doesn’t last. If you’re motivated to go on a run, but you go outside and it’s raining, you’re going to lose the motivation. The only thing to keep you going in the rain and do that run is dedication.
It takes a while to get but you gotta just start doing it slowly but surely and you’ll get the dedication to keep going.
Why be dedicated? Austin reminds us that “everybody has their thing and the gym is mine. My brother started doing it and during quarantine I started doing pushups with him. Once quarantine was over we got gym memberships.”
For Gracie, it’s hard to go to the gym and keep going. Especially when everyone goes to Lifetime Fitness in Frisco, and she is a member in another club. Austin suggests taking a friend to help you build up the habit.
