The Wakeland tennis season is far from over with their determination and hard work paying off this past Thursday at the 6A tournament in Austin. The team placed second overall with many accomplishments. For girls doubles, sophomore Ella Wertz and sophomore Mariella Davies placed first with a win against the top 6A Westwood team, and sophomore Alba Lopez and junior Sophia Luo placed third in girls doubles as well. Additionally, sophomore Tvisha Yadiki placed third in singles, and in mixed doubles, senior Blake Vo and senior Lauren Parrott placed third in the A division. Lastly, in the B division, placing second in mixed doubles, were sophomore Joshua Novick and sophomore Makenna Schroeder.

“I think we definitely exceeded our expectations for the tournament and represented Wakeland well,” Yadiki said.

Come and cheer on the Wakeland tennis teams at their upcoming tournaments at Heritage High School on April 12 at 8 a.m. and district on April 18-19 at 8 a.m. with location to be determined.
