Wakeland’s playoff hopes hang in the balance as they battle district opponents. Wakeland is currently two and two in district play.
The game against Centennial at Toyota Stadium on Friday, Oct. 4, was a district showdown and the Titans’ homecoming game. Wakeland beat the Titans 35 – 14.
Before the loss against Wakeland, Centennial’s only loss was to Frisco Lone Star, with a devastating 62-7 score. This game was a must-watch for football fans as the Wolverines were 1-2, battling the Titans, 3-2.
“I think they always play us pretty hard from when the first four schools: us, them, Liberty, and Frisco High,” said Coach Carroll. “It’s always a rivalry, so I think everybody is always a tough game.¨
Only four teams in the district will advance to the playoffs. In Wakeland’s matchup against Heritage, the Wolverines won 30 – 2.
“We’re hoping to make the playoffs, we just gotta win a couple more games, and then we will be in playoffs, and I think we definitely have a good shot to make a deep run in playoffs,” said Ryder Treadway. “We got a great team, great defense, great offense, and I think we have a great shot of making a deep run.
The next football game is this Friday, Oct. 18, against Frisco High at Kuykendall Stadium. The theme is “dress out of this world.”
