Since the beginning of school, DECA students have been working hard on their final projects with the hope of qualifying for the state competition.
In DECA students learn valuable skills like collaboration and problem-solving. To showcase their talents, they have the option to write a 10-20 page paper or create a business roleplay project.
“Although it’s highly stressful, I look forward to being in DECA and learning skills I can apply to the real world,” sophomore Lia Snively said.
Members of DECA were recruited by Drano in early August, and they have been preparing their final project for months. They have a strict deadline to complete their project by December 1, 2023, and anyone who does not meet this deadline could have to leave DECA. The officers are tasked with approving the members’ submissions and making sure they are ready for the judges.
“My pride exists on three levels. One is seeing our new members challenge themselves and make an effort to accomplish something that they’ve never done. Two is seeing our existing members taking in what they’ve learned and trying to reach the next level. Perhaps the most important is my pride in our officers that are willing to be servants to our entire membership of over 400 students and help them achieve the two previous goals,” advisor Drano said.
The district DECA competition is on January 16th, 2024. If students do well at district, they can advance to the state competition which is February 15-17, 2024. Make sure to wish your friends in DECA good luck at the upcoming competition!
