A new school year brings lots of changes, including new classes, new friends, and, most importantly, new fashion. As students progress through the years, many enjoy experimenting with new styles to express themselves.
“I’ve changed my style since last year,” sophomore Emily Jensen said. “I dress more casual and comfortable than I used to.”
Jensen recommends going back-to-school shopping at Stonebriar mall for new clothes. Her go-to store is Hollister for their trendy and fashionable apparel.
“I like Hollister because their clothes are very cute,” Jensen said.
Finding stylish outfits that are also comfortable and convenient for daily activities can be challenging. Since many students prefer comfort and function, active wear is an increasingly popular clothing choice.
“I wear Lululemon every day because I can look good, feel good, and do good,” freshman Channing Embry said.
Many students at Wakeland, such as junior Isis Nem, prefer to go thrift shopping for secondhand clothes, which is beneficial for the environment and offers less expensive options. Even though thrifting only offers previously-owned clothes, there are still opportunities to find your favorite name brands.
“I am obsessed with Doc Martens because they’re comfortable and stylish,” Nem said.
Back-to-school shopping can sometimes feel like a chore, but nothing can beat the feeling of having a fresh new look.
“Honestly my mom makes me go [shopping], but it is a nice feeling to feel like you’re starting fresh with new clothes,” Nem said.
Though fashion is not for everyone, it is a powerful way to express one’s personality. A fresh style can make students feel like a new version of themselves.
