Wakeland Theatre is hosting “Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat” to support families in need through food donations to the International Thespian Society.
The event aims to teach students the importance of community support and empathy. Students can bring donations to their third-period classes from Oct. 24 to Nov. 4. The class donating the most will receive a free meal from Raising Cane’s and recognition for their efforts.
Mrs. Brady’s class led donations with 296 items. Wakeland High School collected 1,419 donations in total.
Sophie Collins, a student participant, said, “Donating makes you feel good and helps you understand others’ struggles. It’s important to recognize our fortune and help others have a better life.”
Another student, Eshika Taslima, added, “Donating feeds people and provides candy for kids. It teaches caring and support for others.”
The event organizers hope to instill the value of supporting those facing hardships in the community.
