Finding the perfect prom dress is an exciting yet overwhelming journey for Wakeland seniors.
The first step is figuring out which dress style suits you best. There are many styles to choose from, including mermaid, A-line, ball gown, or sleek and simple. Students spend hours scrolling through Pinterest or Instagram and gathering advice from friends and family to find inspiration for their perfect dress.
Once you have a general idea of the style you are after, it is time for your first trip to the store.
“I spent a lot of time on Pinterest, thinking about different dress styles and eventually found one that was perfect,” senior Sadie Kreter said.
There are many different places around Frisco that sell beautiful prom dresses. Wakeland favorites include Terry Costa, Windsor, Runway Fashion House, and WhatchamaCallit Boutique. After trying on a wide variety of dresses, you can finally slip into one that fits perfectly and walk out of the dressing room for your friends or family to admire.
“I went to Terry Costa and tried on a bunch of dresses until I found the one I liked,” senior Bailey Smith said.
Everyone hopes to find the ideal dress, but trying on dresses can be a super fun experience, even if you do not find your perfect fit.
¨My shopping experience was really fun! I loved trying on all the dresses, and I felt like a princess when trying them on,” senior Alicia Munch said. “I didn’t end up buying a dress this trip but I now know the styles and colors I want to look for.¨
But the hunt does not end with the dress, next comes the accessories. You can spend another afternoon hunting for the perfect shoes, jewelry, and a clutch that will complete the look. It is a balancing act, choosing accessories that enhance the dress without overpowering it.
“After I found my dress I carefully picked out the jewelry and purse that matches my dress the best,” senior Reagan Palmer said.
Whichever prom dress you end up buying, remember to enjoy the experience.
