The Wakeland Wrestling team has grown into a stronger program, marked by big improvements and hard-earned achievements. During their last season, the Wolverines grew into bigger competitors, with 5 state qualifiers and a first state champ, Micheal Brennan.
Beyond the victories and achievement, the team’s success was built on discipline, hard work, and culture. The team has developed new traditions and routines that have strengthened their bond.
“Our team has been made stronger by our culture of working hard and holding each other accountable,” Senior Patricio Botello said. “Coach Reyes has been a crucial part in helping build this culture in only 1 year of coaching here at Wakeland.”
Coach Reyes became the wrestling coach last year which brought more interest to the team, and helped wrestlers create a stronger bond.
“We have gotten more people to join due to the addition of Coach Reyes as well as having a stronger team bond after losing our old coach,” Blake Brigance said.
The Wolverine Wrestling team has a tournament coming up on November 8th at Wakeland, make sure you show up and support your fellow Wolverines!
