The National Honor Society scholarship applications have officially opened for all seniors to apply! This opportunity offers valuable financial relief that can be beneficial to Wakeland students.
“Students should look for every opportunity for financial aid while applying for colleges,” NHS Advisor Vaun Flanders said. “This scholarship is a great way to provide support.”
While applying, students should keep in mind the four pillars that the society is built on: scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Through exemplifying these ideals, seniors can have a greater chance to succeed. Additionally, by working towards a goal like winning a scholarship, applicants can be inspired to exemplify these pillars in other aspects.
“The scholarship can motivate students to take an active role in their communities,” NHS officer Diya Sebastian said. “It encourages them to go above and beyond and think like a leader.”
Wakeland’s NHS advisors and student officers are excellent resources to use for support. Frisco ISD has had numerous winners over the past few years, proving that this achievement is attainable for anyone.
Applications close on November 24, 2025 at 4:00 p.m., giving seniors just a few weeks to prepare. Regarding the scholarship itself, 575 semifinalists will receive $3,200; 24 finalists will receive $5,625; and a single National Winner will receive $25,000. Finalists are also awarded an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. in 2026.
“Scholarships like these can help in unexpected ways,” Flanders said. “I encourage everyone to apply.”
Seniors who are interested in applying should contact Mrs. Flanders for more information.
