Winter Storm Brings Freezing Temperatures and Snow

Winter Storm is expected to bring freezing temperatures, as well as snow to North Texas.


Winter Storm Warning – A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for North Texas. The storm will bring freezing rain, sleet, snow, and wind chills. Make sure to stay warm and stay safe.

With the constant change of Texas weather over the past month, a winter storm is making its way to North Tx. this week. 

Earlier this week, a Winter Storm Warning was issued for the Dallas-Fort Worth area from 6 p.m. tonight until 6 p.m. on Thurs..

We are expected to have a transition from rain to freezing rain, as well as sleet and snow. 

Throughout today, there will be showers, starting with a 30% chance of rain at noon and a 100% chance at 6 p.m.. Temperatures will be falling throughout the day today, eventually falling to below freezing. 

Tonight, there is a 90%-100% chance of sleet from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m..

Tomorrow, there is a 100% chance of snow throughout the day. 

According to, “NBC 5’s team of Weather Experts expects ice accumulation to vary between .16 of an inch and .85 inches and sleet and snow accumulation to range from .2 of an inch to 4 inches”.

Not only will we be expecting sleet and snow, but wind chills are possible on Fri. through Sat..

Weather isn’t expected to get back above freezing until midday on Sat..

Frisco ISD, as well as other districts in North Tx., have canceled school on Thurs. and Fri. due to the storm. 

With the cold weather coming in, make sure to bundle up and stay warm.
