New Athletic Districts Announced – The University Interscholastic League has announced new athletic districts for the 2022-2024 school years. FISD high schools will now be split into 3 athletic districts. For more information, visit fisd.org.

The University Interscholastic League has recently announced new changes for the next two years.

Schools within Frisco ISD are now divided into three areas for the 2022-2024 school years.

For the first time in history, FISD’s high schools will be competing in separate 5-A districts. This is included for all sports.

Lone Star High School, Frisco HS, Reedy HS, and Wakeland HS will be competing in the 9-5A District.

Centennial HS, Emerson HS, Heritage HS, Independence HS, Lebanon Trail HS, Liberty HS, and Memorial HS will be competing in the 10-5A District.

Panther Creek HS, opening in Fall 2022, will be competing in the 11-4A District.

Like in past alignments, districts will be different for football.

Wakeland HS will be competing 5A Division I District 6-5A for football with Frisco HS, Centennial HS, Heritage HS, Lebanon Trail HS, Liberty HS, Lone Star HS, Reedy HS, and Sherman HS.

However, just because one school is in a different athletic district does not mean they won’t be played in future non-district competitions or playoffs.

The purpose of the UIL realignment is to help students in different high schools have equal opportunities in sports and extracurricular activities.

Students who compete in individual sports, such as wrestling or tennis, will have a higher chance of qualifying for regional championships.

On Feb. 3-14, 2022, schools are allowed to request a change in districts through the process of first level appeal. Schools must receive a majority of votes from the local district executive committees (DECs).

For more important dates, please follow up with the UIL News Letter.
