Shoot and Score – The Lady Wolverines are determined to keep winning throughout the rest of the season. By working hard on and off the court, they are on the path to finishing out the season with a bang.

“Life is about growing and improving and getting better,” boxer Conor Mcgregor said. This is how the Wakeland girls basketball team approaches the second half of district play.

The Lady Wolverines started the first half of the season by losing every game.

The team believes that this start was just a bump in the road and they have big plans to do better in the second half of the season.

“I believe we should do better. We cleaned up all the little mistakes we made at the beginning of the season,” senior Jennifer Powley said.

The team has been practicing as hard as ever to become the best versions of themselves they can be.

They practice in the gym and in the weight room early in the mornings before most people get to school.

“I believe we work just as hard or if not more than any other team in Wakeland,” senior Maya Carver said.

Whether the statement is true or not, the ladies’ hard work is paying off in the second half of the season, as they recently won their first game. The Lady Wolverines defeated Lebanon Trail on Jan. 21, 2020 with the final score being 39-34. This marks the first win in the Lady Wolverine season but they do not plan on allowing that to be their last win.

“We have to build on this and have the mindset that we can keep winning no matter who we play,” Carver said.

With this mindset and work ethic, the Lady Wolverines are on pace to have a great finish to the season.
