The track and field team is seeing strong results during the UIL season, with multiple athletes advancing beyond the area meet.
The girls team earned co-area champion honors, highlighting a successful showing at the UIL Area competition.
Several athletes qualified for the regional meet in individual events. Samantha Ivey qualified in the 800 meters, while Lili Schmidt and Presley Robertson advanced in the 1,600 meters. Additional regional qualifiers include Dylan G. and Adam Lane in distance events.
Wakeland also saw success in sprint events, with Sam Ivey and Journey Polk qualifying in the 400 meters and Eliana Tonyan advancing in the 100 meters.
The 4×400-meter relay team placed second at the area meet, securing a spot at regionals.
Other regional qualifiers include Madison Epps, Tyler Dorsey, Rebecca Craft, Lily Schmidt, Brad Vacek and Presley Robertson.
The team will compete next at the UIL Regional Meet, with hopes of advancing to the state competition.
As track continues to build on its recent success, marking another strong year for the program as athletes prepare for the next level of competition.
