Frisco ISD’s annual Floral Cup gives floral design students an opportunity to showcase their skills in a floral arrangement competition.
From hydrangeas to roses, students use a variety of flowers to create detailed displays in hopes of winning first place. The competition is scheduled for May 9 in the CTE Center floral design rooms and is open to all floral design students. Those interested must sign up by April 30.
The 2026 event marks the sixth year of the Floral Cup. Wakeland High School floral design students have been preparing in class as the competition approaches. For students interested in nature, botany, agricultural science or creative expression, the Floral Cup offers a chance to compete and gain experience.
“It’s my first year doing the Floral Cup,” sophomore Grace Jones said. “I’m really excited, especially since I love nature.”
Students may compete individually or in groups and will design arrangements based on a provided theme. In previous years, themes have included events such as “Derby Dinner.”
In addition to being a creative outlet, the competition helps students develop skills useful for future careers. Participants practice working under time constraints while building creativity, problem-solving and design skills.
“I feel like competing in the Floral Cup allows me to show my creativity,” sophomore Taylor Ross said. “I get to show my artistic side.”
Organizers say the event offers a unique opportunity for students to express their creativity while gaining hands-on experience in floral design.
