As the holiday season approaches, the spirit of giving shines bright in Frisco. With rising living costs and many families struggling to make ends meet, local organizations are stepping up, and they need our help. From food donations to toy drives and volunteer opportunities, there are plenty of ways for students and residents to give back to the community.
When school cafeterias close for the summer and grocery prices continue to rise, many local families face food insecurity. Not to mention, recent reductions in food stamp assistance have made things harder for those struggling. That’s why The Feed Frisco Community Food Drive is more crucial than ever. The drive helps bridge that gap by collecting non-perishable food items and grocery store gift cards for families in need.
Donations of canned goods, pasta, rice, peanut butter, and other staples can make a lasting impact. Gift cards to stores like Market Street, HEB, Kroger, and Walmart are also accepted and allow organizers to quickly replenish specific items. Financial contributions are another way to help ensure that every family in Frisco has access to meals this holiday season.
Presented by the City of Frisco and the Frisco Police and Fire Departments, the Holiday Toy Drive spreads cheer to children across the community. Running from November 5 through December 3, the drive benefits Frisco Family Services, which supports families facing financial struggle during the holidays.
You can donate new, unwrapped toys at several convenient drop-off locations, including the Frisco Police Department, any Frisco Fire Station, the Frisco Public Library, the Frisco Athletic Center, and more. Even one small toy can bring a big smile to a child’s face this holiday season.
For many families, the holidays can be stressful when budgets are tight. The Holiday Store Program, organized by Frisco Family Services and Metrocrest Services, embodies the spirit of giving. The program collects new toys, clothing, and gifts to stock a temporary “store” where registered families can shop at no cost.
Students, families, and local organizations can get involved by donating items, making financial contributions, or volunteering to help set up the store and manage donations. It’s a simple yet powerful way to help families experience the joy of choosing gifts for their loved ones.
Whether it’s donating a few cans of food, volunteering your time, or giving a toy to a child in need, every act of kindness makes Frisco stronger. As the holidays approach, let’s come together as a community, and remind ourselves that giving is truly the greatest gift of all.
