After thoughtful conversations with Dr. Edge, school leaders have decided to postpone this year’s Wolverine Games. While this decision was not made lightly, several important factors led to the pause.
Over the past few years, student participation and overall interest have gradually declined. In addition, this year’s academic testing schedule created significant challenges in securing a date that would not interfere with exams or preparation time. Rather than hosting an event that wouldn’t fully capture the energy, excitement, and tradition that Wolverine Games is known for, the decision was made to take a step back for the year.
However, this is not the end; it’s a reset with a purpose.
Next year marks a major milestone: the 20-year anniversary of Wakeland High School. With two decades of memories, competition, and school spirit behind it, plans are already underway to make the celebration unforgettable. Organizers are eager to involve students in the planning process, gathering ideas and feedback to create an event that reflects what today’s Wolverines truly want.
The goal is clear: to bring Wolverine Games back bigger, better, and more memorable than ever before. By taking this time to thoughtfully plan and reimagine the event, next year’s celebration promises to honor its legacy while building new traditions for the future.
The countdown to an incredible 20th anniversary begins now!
