Cross Country sets records, heads to state

The varsity girls and boys cross country teams punched their ticket to State yesterday at the Region 2 Cross Country Championships at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. Both teams were the Region 2 runners-up.

The girls team broke a Frisco ISD record as they qualified for the State Cross Country Meet for the ninth year in a row. The previous record was held by the Wakeland boys team of who qualified for eight years in a row from 2012-2019.

A special congratulations to sophomore Presley Robertson for achieving All-Region 2 honors for her third place finish.

The State Cross Country Championships are Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas. The girls run at 10:45 a.m. and the boys at 11:25 a.m.

Hi, I’m Lia Snively! I’m a senior at Wakeland, where I participating in organizations like HOSA, DECA, and Spanish Honor Society! Other than that, I write for Wakeland Access and I am the head editor for this year’s book.
