For the first time in school history, the Wakeland Varsity Boys track team has secured the title of District Champions on April 2 in the UIL 5A District 12 and 4A meet at Standridge Stadium, Carrollton, TX.

“For the first time in school history, your Wakeland Varsity Boys are District Champions!! Congratulations to these athletes and coaches on this awesome accomplishment! #FISDstrong,” shared Wakeland Track and Field on X.

The girls’ team also had standout performances, with senior Kate Yeager placing second in the varsity 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.1 seconds. Sophomore Cassie Shim earned third place in the varsity open 400-meter race, finishing in 1:03.6.

The boys 4×4 team are the 5A varsity district champions.
