Frisco has become home to many exciting sports teams, and is now welcoming another one, The Dallas Renegades! Announced in October 2025, and changes made as of this year, The Dallas Renegades are bringing a new level of excitement to their new home at the Toyota Stadium. As part of the United Football League, this spring team is determined to make Frisco home. Their move this year not only is a big moment for the team, but for the city as well.
The team was originally founded in 2018, and began playing as the Dallas Renegades as part of the XFL in 2020. However, the league shut down in 2020 due to financial problems and the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, the idea of spring football did not disappear and in 2023 the XFL merged with the USFL to form a new league which we know of today as the UFL. During this time, the Dallas Renegades underwent some rebranding and returned to the spring football season as the Arlington Renegades, winning the XFL championship as the Arlington Renegades, just before the merge. Today, the Renegades have rebranded once again, returning to their original name as the Dallas Renegades, and have made the Toyota Stadium in Frisco, their new hometown.
Head Coach Rick Neuheisel is leading the Renegades into their new 2026 era, as the new head coach. In an interview with The Dallas Morning News, Neuheisel stated, “I am elated to join the UFL as the head coach of the Dallas Renegades.” Entering a new season in a new hometown, the Renegades have a lot to prove. The team currently stands 2-0 with their most recent win against the St. Louis Battlehawks on Tuesday, April 7th beating them 31-15. They face the Columbus Aviators home at Toyota on Sunday, April 12th, at 11 AM, before facing them again the Friday that week, in Columbus’s hometown. The rest of their schedule for the season can be viewed below.
The Dallas Renegades are starting a new era in Frisco, with a lot of potential. Their history shows that through obstacles, changes, and challenges, the team can still remain strong and pull through. For the city of Frisco, the Renegades offer something exciting, the chance to be a part of the sports culture in the community, and inspire an involvement, love, and passion, for the sport of football.
