Wakeland High School varsity tennis teams delivered strong performances at the district tournament held April 7–8 at Allen Tennis Courts, with several athletes advancing to regionals.
The girls team captured the title of District Champions, showcasing skill and teamwork throughout the competition. Six players qualified for regionals, including senior Mariella Davies, who earned the Girls Singles District Champion title; senior Ella Wertz and sophomore Dylan Liebhardt, who won Girls Doubles District Champions; and senior Alba Lopez and junior Melissa Moraes who both finished as Girls Doubles Runners-up.
The boys team also demonstrated determination, finishing third overall in district play. Sophomore Shaan Ramaswami earned Boys Singles District Runner-up honors, securing a spot at regionals.
Regional competition will take place April 17–18 at the HEB Tennis Center in Corpus Christi. Best of luck to all Wolverines competing at the next level.
