Ask most seniors what they’re planning for the future, and you’ll probably hear something like business, law, or nursing. But Allison Pich is soaring to uncharted heights as an aspiring pilot. She is currently working towards earning her private pilot license, and loves “traveling to different airports and cities, with so many different terrains and cultures.” She shares her experience with this unique ambition.
Becoming a pilot takes dedication, talent, and responsibility, but consistency is the key to it all. “I’ve been flying since April of 2025, at Airplanes and Attitude Flight School,” senior Allison Pich says, “and I can fly 2-3 times a week.” Allison understands the discipline required to reach her goals, and she embraces the challenge with determination. “It takes a lot of time and patience,” she says, “It can take up to 6 years. But on the other end, you get to hang out with a lot of fun people who are all united under a similar passion.” With a strong sense of direction, community, and a strong mindset, Allison is ready to take off toward a future filled with opportunity.
The journey to this point hasn’t been easy, though. Before even getting in the air, aspiring pilots are required to have countless hours of practice both on and off the ground. It also requires an in-depth understanding of flight mechanics. “Flying is in no way easy,” says Allison.” You have to understand the science and reasoning behind different maneuvers, the changes and preparation for weather, communication with other pilots and airports, as well as the mechanics and build of the plane you are flying.”
Through hard work, exploration, and patience, Allison believes she has found her passion for piloting. “It’s such a blessing to see the world from high elevation,” she shares, “and it’s awesome getting to participate in such a unique hobby.” If anyone is interested in becoming a pilot, they can look to Allison Pich for inspiration. She’s proof that hard work and dedication to your goals pay off in the long run.
