Safe Driving in School Zones and Parking Lots

Wakeland students,

When driving in the parking lot before and after school, be careful and aware of your surroundings. Do not drive faster than 20 mph in the parking lot. Parking lots are busy and unpredictable, and speeding increases the risk of accidents.

The same rule applies in school zones. Speed limits are 20 mph because students may be crossing the street, riding bikes or not paying full attention. By slowing down, you protect yourself and others from serious consequences such as crashes, injuries or legal trouble.

Driving at a safe speed shows responsibility, awareness and respect for those around you. Stay safe, Wolverines!

Hi! My name is Nanami Sawabe and I am a sophomore at Wakeland High school. This is my first year in yearbook and writing for Wakeland Access. I joined yearbook to learn about photography and expand my creativity. I am currently dancing on Legacy Line and outside of school I like to be around people I love such as friends and family. I am excited for this opportunity to build connections with the people in my class and to learn more about photography.

Hi! My name is Gianna Ingold and I’m a sophomore here at Wakeland and this is my first year in Yearbook, as well as my first year writing for Wakeland Access. I joined Yearbook because I want to expand my learning on photography and to build my creativity. Outside of school, I love to do sports photography and play ice hockey with my friends! I prioritize spending time with my family and friends because they mean the most to me! I’m looking forward to create stories on Wakeland Access!
