Students looking to trade their backpacks for briefcases will head to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center on April 16 for the annual Frisco ISD CTE Student Job Fair. The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. and serves as a bridge between the classroom and the professional workforce.
Designed for students ages 16 to 18, the fair offers a structured environment where attendees can meet local employers, explore summer internships, or land their first part-time jobs.
Unlike a typical school event, the CTE Job Fair is treated as a professional experience. Organizers emphasize that first impressions matter. Students are expected to arrive in professional attire and bring multiple copies of their résumés to share with employers. Parents are not allowed in the interview areas to encourage students to advocate for themselves and communicate directly with hiring managers.
The CTE Center, located at 9889 Wade Blvd., will be transformed into a high-energy networking hub featuring more than 40 local employers. Participants can expect to see businesses ranging from retail and hospitality to technical trades. Many organizations plan to conduct on-the-spot interviews to assess students’ skills, availability, and interest.
For seniors planning their next steps, the fair will also include representatives from trade schools and certification programs in high-demand fields such as aviation, health sciences, and cybersecurity.
Preparation is key for students hoping to walk away with a job offer. Counselors and student leaders recommend researching attending employers before the event and tailoring résumés to match specific industries. Attendees should also practice professional skills such as eye contact, a firm handshake, and a clear elevator pitch.
Students planning to attend should finalize their résumé formatting and arrange reliable transportation to the CTE Center, as the event takes place after school hours.
